Print quality: Print quality in terms of text printing is rather good and a notch above standard, with small font sizes the character edges are a little jagged, blemished and fonts askew on envelopes but it does the almost impossible by printing closely spaced bold characters still separated. However printing in general is not best standard available. This mini black laser printer pushes twenty pages per minute at 2400x600 dpi, thus a machine with ideal printing quality for home use. When it comes to graphic and photo printing the printer's quality is poor with line art grainy, in-your-face dithers, posterization and darks being too dark and highlights totally washed out. Another glitch is paper curls and folding.
User manual: The overall look of the user manual is dull. You will have to ignore the other same-priced Brother printer installation instructions as they are also included in the booklet. The manual can also be printed from the software CD-ROM in PDF.
No upgrading: Unfortunately, the printer does not come with optional extra's to invest in. If you want to print more than 250 pages or do double printing rather opt for another model as trays are not sold separately.
Port options: The printer comes standard with Parallel and USB ports and no upgrading options to wireless or Ethernet.
